Before graduating from RHS, I had enlisted in the Air Force for 4 years with my twin brother. I got out after four years and he stayed in 20. Returning to Minnesota I received my degree in Business Administration from the U of M. My last 20 years I have worked for Pillsbury/General Mills- now in the International Export Division. I plan on retiring very soon to my home "Up North" in Walker, Minnesota, fine tuning my golf game, fishing a lot more and enjoying my two weiner dogs- Cookie & Penny. I do look forward to meeting old friends again and some new ones too!

Thanks for the memories RHS. My wife (Lynn Larson) a 68 RHS graduate and I celebrate our 44 Anniversary in August. Easy for me, hard for her--lol. We have enjoyed the ride we call life by moving every 4-7 years between MN, WI, OH, SC,IN and now FL. I would be considered a total slug by some of you girls--but have managed to hold two jobs for more than 9 years and owned 5 businesses and am still currently employed. I have found that success is being happy where you are in life. This has taken some time---no kidding. I am a National Account Manager Interstate Distributor and work from my home covering the US. Cars are still cool to me. LOVE all the memories..YOU'RE THE BEST. Would like to hear from you. Larry

Its hard to believe that 40 years have passed so quickly!!!
I've been married for 34 years (its hard to believe that 34 years have passed so slowly!), and have a daugher (Sarah) and a son (Steve Jr.) I was on the Robbinsdale Fire Department for 28 years, and retired in 1999 as Fire Chief. Being self-employed (North Suburban Towing), I don't have a lot of free time, but when I do, I enjoy going to classic car shows. I do have a few classic cars that I really enjoy "cruising" around in.

I finally retired in 2012 after 40 years of teaching 1st graders. I really miss the kids but I am still active with our youth program at church, and I volunteer at my grandchildren's school every week- so still get to interact with kids. I am blessed with 2 beautiful grandchildren. They are such a joy to be with. I spend as much free time as I can with them. They are growing up way too fast.

After school, I spent 16 years working as a legal secretary at Lindquist & Vennum in the IDS Center. While sailing on Lake Minnetonka, I met and later married my husband, John Packard. We have two children, Andrea and Derek. Andrea just graduated from Connecticut College, and Derek is a junior at Washington College. I cannot believe we graduated 40 years ago!

First job out of college was a "Shop Teacher" since I sort of majored in shop when I went to RHS I thought it was a good fit. Actually student taught in our district at Plymouth Jr. High and was offered a job there as an extra Industrial Arts teacher for 7th grade, then they moved me to RHS after 2 years! Can you imagine the shocked look on the faces of some of the teachers that remembered me from my high school year! I was also an over-load teacher at RHS so it was just a 1 year assignment. I still coached Jr. High wrestling at RJHS for 3 years, but taught my last two years for Anoka - Jackson Jr. High. I admire the other classmates who were/are lifelong teachers. It is a good job but the pay sucked when I did it 2001 - 2006 so I had to get a different job to support my family. Went into restaurant management for Perkins, was the manager of the Crystal Perkins for 2 years but moved on when they got bought out by Holiday Inn, not the same when it was not family owned. So went back to something I was trained in, Electronics, where I began as a buyer for Honeywell. I remember playing football at Carl Sandburg Jr. High and would look over at the massive Honeywell building and I always wondered what it would be like to work there, I found out. Worked for Honeywell for 12 years all in the Materials Management area. Met my wife there. We were both going through a divorce so we started dating and now have been married or with each other for over 20 yrs. I have had numerous job opportunites in the Materials Management world and have moved my family from MN to UT, then to MO, then to NY, and now we live in WI. We have enjoyed every place we lived but we are now much closer to Minneapolis, where all of my in-laws live and we love the Appleton area of WI. For hobbies I golf, fish, hunt, it just depends on the season and the time of year. I have 4 sons, two older ones from my first marriage and two at home. My youngest is almost 16 and he hopes to become a professional golfer. The other one will be graduating from HS this year and has enlisted with the Navy Reserves. They keep me young at heart and I enjoy having them as my fishing, hunting, and golfing buddies. In closing, it is sad to see all of the classmates that have passed away. I knew some of them pretty well and it reminds me how short our time on this earth actually is. So let us all live life to the fullest and enjoy every day we are blessed with because who knows what tomorrow will bring.

Married to Jean (Sullivan, RHS '67)

Jean and I have been married for 36 years. We were married while in college at St. Cloud State. We have lived in the San Francisco area ever since we graduated. We try to keep as active as we can. Mt. biking, fly fishing, kayaking, scuba diving, snow skiing and flying radio control airplanes keep me pretty busy. I raced motorcycles pretty hard for 20 years but the body said I should hang it up. Became a pilot ten years ago which has been a blast. Jean is retired now from teaching speech pathology for 28 years. She has also been our CFO to our advertising company we started in 1998 (should have done that sooner!) I have been involved in print advertising/photography all my career. I have not been working too hard the last 5 years enjoying a lot of time goofing off. Probably as retired as I will ever get. We split our time between California and Oregon now.

Oh, I almost forgot, one of our other favorite past times is wondering why you are in a room just after you walked into it. I have become very good at this.

Still no children yet, I guess I am the only kid in the family. We are still having a lot of fun trying though - buy stock in Viagra!

The other, other Dave Olson

p.s. Deep thought for the day - Do you know why there are so many people in California? The psychologists stood a map of the United States up on end with California on the bottom. The people who could not hold on mentally all slid into California. (It's an old one but still makes me smile)

Graduated from the U of M in 1971 and then began to work there as the coordinator for the Parent's Association. Ted and I married in 1971 after having met and known each other at our cabins in Dresser, WI for over 12 years. We moved to a hobby farm in the same area in 1975 and we both continued to commute to the U. Ted is the Director of Lab Services for the Chemistry department at the U and I have been the Coordinator of Graduate Student Services for the Computer Science Department for the last 11 years. We have two wonderful children; Andrea, married to Joe and with two children Ethan (4 ) and Elizabeth (1), is the Director of Human Resources for our county. Our son Travis is a senior at UMD and active in sports. After 34 years, our family cabin came on the market and we were able to buy it and bring it back in the family. It has been a source of much fun, togetherness and work and is party central for family and friends. I have enjoyed reading about what people have been doing these last 40+ years.

Since the last reunion--I've cruised the Amazon, broke off an engagement, travelled in Spain (Spain IS pretty!) and to Antarctica (icebergs! whales! midnight sun! and penguin poop). I've been "downsized" three more times for a total of 5, so I'm in premature retirement and loving every minute of it. My newest hobby is kayaking, I've become less incompetent at golf, and I've taken advantage of most of the free museum passes from the library. I regularly attend "Senior Breakfast" at the casino. Let's all embrace our "agedness"!
